About
Too Much Sugar aka @too.muchsugar was found in 2020 and is producing Asian-inspired food, patisserie, pastries and snacks. It was started in lockdown when professional chef-founders Winnie and Theo started making cakes and bakes and sold their products at Canada Water Market for their neighbours. Since then the business has grown to include catering events, bespoke celebration and wedding cakes, and wholesale supply. They also creates exquisite seasonal gift boxes for Eastern and Western holidays.
We would love to thank you who have been with us from the very beginning of our business and supported us throughout the journey, your smile leading us where we are today.😉

Chef Winnie is the founder and the pastry chef behind the scenes. She is originally from Hong Kong, and has been living in the UK for nearly 20 years. She did her Finance and Accounting degree at the University of Nottingham but she realized an office job wasn’t my kind of thing. Therefore, she went to Le Cordon Bleu London and completed a Patisserie diploma right after she graduated from University; since then she have 8 years of experience working in high-end hotels and restaurants like the Langham, the Ritz, Sexy Fish, etc.
Unfortunately because of the pandemic, she got laid off but she never lost her passion for baking. At first, she just baked at home and shared her creations with the people in my flat, but they soon started gaining weight, so she started sharing sweet treats with my neighbours. This led to them wanting and ordering more, and the business was born there!
She often found British desserts can be overly sweet, as an Asian we often say: ‘That’s not too sweet for our dessert ‘ as a complaint of the food. The brand name was inspired by her Asian mum often said ‘Aiya, that’s so sweet!’
At Too Much Sugar, our recipes have the right amount of sugar to balance the delicious flavours that we create. She aims to create more traditional/modern Hong Kong patisserie in the UK and let people understand and taste the HK nostalgic food!

Chef Theo is the founder and main kitchen chef behind the scenes. Having studied genetics at the University of Cambridge, he soon realised the lab life was not for him. His love for food however comes from that love of science and experimenting, as cooking is much like lab work without the paperwork!
He started his first job at a Middle Eastern restaurant in a small town, and soon he moved to London to explore more opportunities to master different cuisines like French, Asian, and British food. He has over 8 years of experience working at numerous restaurants and luxury events companies around London.
By the way, Chef Theo created the first- ever retail product, Gochujang & Lime Nuts and won the 2 stars Great Taste Award last year! and our aim for 2025 is to create more retail products and sell them around UK!
